worn between 1868 to 1880, became, the 10th Lanarkshire (Glasgow Highland) Rifle Volunteers in 1880, renamed the 5th Glasgow Highland Volunteer Battalion H.L.I. in 1887, and the 9th (Glasgow Highland) Battalion H.L.I. in 1908

not to be mistaking this badge for the "Company Badge of the Royal Scots" , with a different spelling of the motto, which it translates as "Highlanders Shoulder to Shoulder").
