Sergt James Reid RSF Age 28 wounded on the 1st September, Died of Wounds on the 7th September. Sgt Reid joined up immediately on the declaration of war and had been on continual service with his Regiment in Gallipoli, Palestine and France. He was
employed prior to enlisting at Farm work.
His Soldier qualities earned him rapid promotion, and some time ago he was recommended for a commission . A younger and only brother, Pte Robert Reid was Killed in Action at the Dardanelles on 12th July 1915.

Mr John Reid, Albert Place Mauchline has received this week a letter of condolence on the death in action of his son Sergt James Reid R.S.F.; from his platoon Officer in testyfing to the great regard Sergt Reid was held in by the entire Regiment, This Officer states that at the action in he met his death he had displayed himself so greatly that the Military Medal had been conferred on him.
Both brothers landed in Gallipoli on the same day 6th June 1915 with the 1/5th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers
